Patriots Men's Golf Dominates Day One of the Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship

Bowling Green, KY- UC Men's Golf Shot their lowest two rounds during the Coach Aaron Watkins era to sit in first place after day one of the Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship. The Patriots shot a combined 36 hole score of 570 (-6) after tallying 92 pars, 40 birdies, and 3 eagles as a team.

Leading all players across the two rounds at the tournament is Jarryd Elliott. Elliott, who sits four strokes ahead of second place, began the tournament four pars and a birdie on his first five holes on the day. Through round one, the Witbank, South Africa native tallied 11 pars and four birdies for a final round one score of 72 (E). The sophomore's best round came during round two of the day. On Elliott's opening nine holes on the round, he carded an eagle, three birdies, and four pars. Elliott finished the round carding four birdies and three pars for a final round two score of 66 (-6).

Sitting just four strokes behind Elliott is Gustav Barden who is tied for second on the individual leaderboard. Barden opened the tournament tallying three straight pars on holes one through three of the course. The Karlstad, Varmland native finished round one with a final score of 74 (+2). Like Elliott, Barden's best round came during round two of the tournament. Barden opened round two by carding two pars and three birdies on his first five holes of the round. The sophomore opened the back nine in similar fashion, by tallying four birdies and a par. Barden finished round two with a final score of 68 (-4).

Imanol Camba had one of his best outings of the season across two rounds of the MSC Tournament Championship to sit in fifth place on the individual leaderboard after day one. Camba got off to a hot start at the tournament by carding an eagle on his first hole of the day. The junior followed his eagle with six pars, a birdie and an eagle on his next nine holes of the round. Camba finished round one with his best score of the day, a 70 (-2). The Bilbao, Spain native finished round two with a score of 74 (+2). Across the two rounds, Camba recorded 18 pars, six pars, and two eagles to sit just one stroke behind fourth place.

Juan Murube carded a two round score of 147 (+3) to sit in tied for eighth on the individual leaderboard after day one in Bowling Green. Across his 36 holes on the day, the junior tallied 21 pars and six birdies to match one of his best opening day scores of the season. After two rounds, Murube sits just one stroke behind seventh place.

Rounding out the top-five for the Patriots is Jaime Crispi. Crispi currently sits tied for 18th on the individual leaderboard after two rounds of the tournament. The freshman's' best round came during round two of the day where he carded a 73 (+1). Across the two rounds, Crispi recorded 20 pars and five birdies for a combined two round score of 152 (+8).

Cumberlands will return to the course tomorrow in Bowling Green, KY for their final round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship. Players are set to tee off tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. EST.
