#12 Men’s Tennis Blanks SSU

Portsmouth, OH - Cumberlands finished out the week as well as they started as they were able to get the sweep over Shawnee State. UC travelled to take on the Bears Saturday afternoon with the Patriots feeling right at home in the 7-0 win.

Doubles play belonged to the Patriots with them allowing only two points to be scored against them during the three matchups. Martin Barbier and Eric Banoub did allow one of those, though, as they got the first win of doubles play at the #1 spot with a 6-0 victory. Martin Muller and Hung-Ju Wu followed suit with a strong performance of their own at the #2 spot as they were able to grab the 6-1 win. Luis Montull and Mattis Le Montagner kept things rolling at #3, finishing out doubles play on a high note with a 6-1 victory of their own.

Singles play proved to go in UC's favor as well with them being in complete control through the contest as no Patriot gave up more than three points in a set when holding their Bear counterparts without a point in seven sets. Barbier was the first to earn the win in singles, making it a 2-0 lead for Cumberlands, with his defeat of Max Mitchell at #1 by a final of 6-0, 6-3 to move Martin to 11-1 against MSC foes in this season.

Mattis Le Montagner moved the Patriot's lead out to 3-0 at #2 with his 6-1, 6-0 win as he dispatched of the opposition while Martin Muller ended up handing UC the win in the #3 spot. Muller had an easy time on his way to win number nine in his lat 10 tries as he won by a final count of 6-0, 6-2 to make it a 4-0 lead.

The back half of singles play saw Cumberlands continue to dominate the Bears as Luis Montull gave up only one point in the 6-0, 6-1 win at the #4 spot while Christian de la Fuente Nodado and Hung-Ju Wu put together strong performances of their own to close of the contest. Nodado mirrored Montull's effort as he won out 6-0, 6-1 while Wu one upped him with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win to close out the afternoon as the #6. 

This win gives the Patriots their seventh straight victory, moving their overall record to 18-4 with a 8-1 mark in conference play. UC will get some time to rest before their next matchup as they're set to host Marian in the team's final home contest of the season on Wednesday, April 13th, with things beginning at 1:00 p.m.
