Gulf Shores, AL – UC raced in the 4x100m relay prelims at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on Wednesday. The squad broke the school record time with their performance and placed 16th out of 39 teams.

The Patriots placed fourth in the first heat of the day, where they raced to a 47.73 finish. Jullia Morris and Kathryn Hunter ran the first two legs. Morgan Bruin took over after Hunter before passing the baton to Jaida Reed to finish the race.

Although this was a season best performance from the team, it wasn't quite enough to qualify them for the finals later this week. Hunter, Bruin, and Reed all got their first nationals experience, while Jullia Morris added to her nationals resume. Morris is set to compete in the triple jump competition on Thursday as well.

Head Coach Randy Greer had this to say about his team's performances. "I am really proud of the girls. They came in and ran a season best so what else can you do."

Lauren McHan was also scheduled to race in the steeplechase today, but the race was postponed due to weather. The Patriots will have their racewalkers competing tomorrow as well.
