Gulf Shores, AL – UC rounded out their weekend at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on Thursday. The Patriots competed in the steeplechase, racewalk, and triple jump on day two.
Jullia Morris led all UC finishers as she earned All-American honors in the triple jump.
Morris had a fantastic day as she placed sixth with a leap of 12.36m. This broke the school record, and her previous PR of 12.01m. She had four attempts over her previous best on the day as well. The senior was named an All-American during the indoor season in this event also where she placed seventh.
Two Patriots took to the starting line in the 5k racewalk Thursday afternoon.
Jenna Grogan finished 13
th with a time of 30:06.04.
Tara Todd finished three spots behind her teammate, crossing the finish line in 32:33.43. Both Grogan and Todd competed at the indoor national championships in March as well.
Lauren McHan was the final UC athlete to compete at the national meet. The senior completed her career in the 3k steeplechase with a 21
st place finish. Her 11:32.67 time in this preliminary race did not earn her a qualifying spot in the final race tomorrow.
The women's track & field season comes to an end as they have no athletes competing on the final day of nationals.
