Williamsburg, KY – The Patriots women's track & field program completed another successful season that saw multiple national qualifiers, conference champions, and school records.
THE YEAR IN NUMBERS
The Patriots broke eight school records throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Jullia Morris broke both in and outdoor triple jump records,
Summer Travis broke the indoor shotput and weight throw records, and
Jenna Grogan now holds the fastest 5k racewalk time in program history. UC's relays also had a great year as Morris,
Kathryn Hunter,
Morgan Bruin, and
Jaida Reed broke the 4x100 record. Lauren Mchan,
Cora Stevens,
Lauren Sanderson, and
Ashley Terry now hold the fastest finish in the 4x800, while
Lydiah Strauel,
Samantha Connelly, Terry, and McHan also broke the DMR record.
Cumberlands placed first as a team at the Pepsi UC Invite and Distance Carnival. UC blew away the competition at their home meet, scoring 198 points for first place. The next best team, Brescia, tallied 86 points respectively. The Patriots beat four MSC opponents in this meet as well.
UC won 4 individual MSC Titles in both the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Jullia Morris dominated the triple jump event, taking the gold at both conference championships.
Trinity Sherrod placed first at both in the pole vault, while
Jenna Grogan also earned two gold medals in both in and outdoor racewalks.
Summer Travis was the fourth MSC champ at the indoor championships as she placed first in the weight throw. The 4x800 squad of Stevens, McHan, Sanderson, and Terry earned the gold at the outdoor conference championships.
Seventeen patriots earned All-Conference honors at the MSC Outdoor Championships. Grogan, Morris, Sherrod, and the relay team of Stevens, McHan, Sanderson, and Terry each earned First-Team honors.
Hailey Martin earned second-team in the 400m hurdles as well as
Tara Todd who finished second in the racewalk.
Lauren McHan earned her second conference honors of the weekend, this time in the 3k steeplechase,
Delores Stevenson earned Second-Team in the hammer throw, while UC's 4x400 relay of
Morgan Bruin,
Ashley Terry,
Lauren Sanderson, and
Cora Stevens earned Second-Team honors as well.
Taylor Warren rounded out UC's All-Conference honorees with a third-team nod in the 10k race.
Two All-American finishes highlighted
Jullia Morris's senior season. She earned a seventh place finish at the NAIA Indoor National Championships with a school record leap of 12.01m. Morris then put together an even better performance at outdoor nationals, placing sixth after a mark of 12.36m.
Cumberlands had seven NAIA national qualifiers during the outdoor season including
Jullia Morris in the triple jump as well as part of the 4x100.
Morgan Bruin,
Kathryn Hunter and
Jaida Reed each made the trip to nationals for their performance in the relay as well.
Jenna Grogan and
Tara Todd raced in the 5k racewalk while
Lauren McHan qualified for the 3k steeplechase event.
