Campbellsville, KY – Another double-digit kill performance from Anna Blumeier and Allyson Grava was not enough to push the Patriots past Campbellsville in a five setter 3-2 (14-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-19, 8-15). The Pats are now 12-7 on the season.  

Blumeier led the team with 17 kills while Grava added 15 kills. Kendall Arnold came away with a double-double as she had 32 assists with 15 digs and two aces. Kira Ervin had a team-high three aces and 12 digs. Defensively, Juliet Banks had a team-high of 26 digs along with four assists. Shelby Lackey tallied four blocks as well.

The Tigers came out strong as they took the first two sets, Cumberlands rallied to take the third and fourth sets. The third set started with a lot of back-and forth action. UC with able to take control after a 9-3 run. On that run, both Lexi Lester and Danielle Jackson put in aces, and both Blumeier and Grava put in two kills. After a small Tiger run, Blumeier put in another two kills, and Jackson followed with a kill. A couple errors would give UC the set.

In set four, the Pats started out hot scoring the first four points. Blumeier notched the opening kills then both Jackson and Grava followed with one of their own. After Campbellsville tied the set at 11-11, UC would string together six points to regain the lead. Those six points came by way of three kills from Blumeier, and a kill from Arnold, along with two Tiger errors. A few plays later, UC got a block from Jackson and Prewitt. Prewitt followed the block up with a kill. On the next play, Jayce Braden and Lackey came together for a block. This marks the first block of Braden's career.  Then Ervin notched one of her three aces to take the 20-17 lead. A few plays later, the Patriots scored three straight to take the set. Lackey and Blumeier notched kills for set point and a block by Arnold and Lackey won the set to force a fifth set.

Cumberlands fell short in the fifth set but will look to rebound on Thursday October 6^th in Williamsburg, KY as they take on Cumberland at 6 pm.
