McKenzie, TN - The 18
th  ranked UC men's tennis team scored the first four points of the match to open conference play with a 6-1 win over Bethel on Friday Afternoon. With the win UC moves to 1-0 in conference play and 7-2 overall.

Doubles play began with the Patriots in the lead as the #3 duo of
Mattis Le Montagner and
Juanchi Alcon took their match 6-2. After this,
Martin Muller and
Hung Ju Wu defeated Pedro Donadon and Marcos Neves in a similar fashion, and claimed the doubles point for the Patriots. Bethel took #2 doubles, however, as Pedro Donadon and Leonel Caspe took the match 6-3. Cumberlands then headed into singles play leading 1-0.

UC opened singles play with Le Montagner taking down Donadon at #1 singles 6-3, 6-1, to extend the lead 2-0. Muller won his match over Hernandez at #2 singles 6-1, 6-3 to follow.

After taking the first set 6-3, Christian de La Fuente Nodado clinched the match for UC by disposing of Vecchi as he did not allow for a single point in the second set. With this, de La Fuente moves to 7-2 on the season in singles play.

Bethel got on the board with a win at #4 singles, before the Patriots won the final two matchups of the day to earn their first win of the weekend. At #5 singles, Wu extended the lead for UC as he bested Caspe in two sets 6-2, 6-4.

Lucas Augotr finished the day for the Patriots #6 singles, where he defeated Arthur Trigno after just two sets. Augotr allowed for only three points to be scored against him as he took the match 6-2, 6-1.

Cumberlands will be back to the courts tomorrow, March 11th, as they head to Freed-Hardeman at 11:00 am..
