Hendersonville, TN - The eighth-ranked Patriots women's tennis team did not drop a single match as they swept Freed-Hardeman 7-0 on Saturday Afternoon. With the win, UC moves to 2-0 against the MSC and 7-1 overall.

Doubles play began with the Patriots in the lead, as the #3 duo of
Johanna Beckmann and
Tessa Gray took the match 6-2 over Elise Kruzan and Morgan Brown. At #1 doubles,Â
Meiri Okuwaki and
Mikaela Fros disposed of the Lions top tandem of Michelle Lancaster and Juliana Alves 6-1 to claim the doubles point for UC. The Patriots number two pair solidified the doubles sweep as
Fan Shiau and
Marina Nagai defeated Delfina Rodrigues and Hannah Pearce 6-2.

In singles play,
Marina Nagai blanked Rodriguez at #3 singles, 6-0, 6-0 to extend the lead 2-0.
Laura Prieto defeated Juliana Alves in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 to increase the lead to 3-0.

Okuwaki clinched the match for UC by taking down the #1 singles player for Freed-Hardeman, Michelle Lancaster. The players traded points until Okuwaki pulled away to take the match 6-2, 6-3 and give Cumberlands the 4-0 advantage.

The Patriots continued to pour it on from there winning each of the three final matchups of the day to earn their second win of the weekend. Shiau blanked Kruzan in two sets, and moves to 8-1 in singles play on the season.
Catherine Rae played at #5 singles, where she defeated Pearce in two sets. Rae took the first set 6-1 and then did not allow a single point in the second to extend the lead for the Pats.

Number six singles player
Mikaela Fros finished the day for Cumberlands by disposing of Morgan Brown in two straight 6-0 sets to complete the clean sweep for UC.

The Patriots will be back to the courts on Tuesday, March 14th, as they host #19 Indiana Tech at 1:00 p.m.
