Williamsburg, KY – The sixth-ranked Patriots women's lacrosse team netted ten first quarter goals en route to a 22-3 win over Concordia Monday afternoon at the UC Lacrosse Complex. The win was the Patriots seventh straight and improve their record to 8-1 overall.
Morgan Terpstra dished out a career-high four assists to go along with three goals in the game, while
Bella Ricchiazzi chipped in seven points.
Marisa Helsten finished with four goals and a pair of assists as
Mia Rask tallied a hattrick.
Emma Rittman tallied three points and 11 draw controls, while
Anna Lobbezoo and
Morgan Tate collected three points apiece.
Bella Ricchiazzi forced a turnover and on the ensuing possession converted a free position attempt for a man-up goal to give UC a 1-0 lead.
Christina Min won the next draw control and on the possession
Morgan Tate netted a goal to extend the lead to 2-0.
Emma Rittman won the next draw control and found
Anna Lobbezoo for a goal 19 seconds later making it 3-0, five minutes into the first quarter. The Patriots added three more goals, including
Marisa Helsten finding Lobbezoo and
Morgan Terpstra for goals to make it 7-0 with 7:23 remaining. UC added three more goals, including one from
Aleyah Belton to make it 10-0 two minutes later.
Olivia McCarrell made one of her two first quarter saves to give the Patriots a 10-0 lead after the opening quarter.
Rittman won the opening draw of the second quarter and on that possession, Terpstra netted her second goal of the game to make it 11-0. The two teams traded goals before Rittman won the draw control and connected with Terpstra, giving her a hat trick and making it 13-1 in favor of the Patriots.
Ricchiazzi opens the third quarter with an assist to Helsten before firing one into the back of the cage to make it 15-2 with 9:17 remaining. Two minutes later, Terpstra scooped a ground ball and found Ricchiazzi in transition for a goal. Terpstra dished out another assists in the closing minute of the quarter as she found Helsten to make it 17-2.
Lobbezoo won the first two draw controls of the fourth quarter resulting in a pair of goals from
Mia Rask to extend the lead before
Mia Bosah made a save to keep the score at 19-2. After a Cardinals goal, Ricchiazzi connected with Rittman for a goal to make it 20-3 with 5:07 remaining.
Reese Kincaid and Rask each added a goal to close out the game for the 22-3 final.
The Patriots will return to the field Thursday, March 16 when they travel to Ottawa, KS to face the (RV) Braves. The Game is slated to begin at 4 p.m. ET with live video available
