Athens, TN - The #19 Patriots men's tennis team faced their toughest opponent of the season as they fell to the #3 Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs 7-0 Thursday afternoon. UC moves moves to 9-3 overall for the season.
 
Doubles play began with UC playing from behind as the Bulldogs were able to grab all three matches to take the 1-0 lead.

Despite continuous hard-fought matches from the Patriots, Tennessee Wesleyan would go on to also sweep singles play. Lucas Augotr was able to put up the best fight for Cumberlands at the #6 singles spot. After dropping the first set 6-4, the freshman flipped the score to force a decisive third. After an exchange of points, Jesus Fernandez took the final stanza 10-6. 

Mattis Le Montagner took the first set 7-5, before Gabriel Ortiz rallied to take the second 6-0. This forced a tie breaker, which the Bulldog took 6-4. Killian Surmont finished the day as the #4 singles player. After a fight, Surmont dropped to Ruben Busch (6-4, 6-2), sealing the fate of UC. With the score at 7-0 after both singles and doubles play, the Bulldogs walked away with the win.

The Patriots will return to the court on  Saturday, March 18th as the team finished their road trip by heading to take on the Tigers of Campbellsville at 1:00 PM.
