Williamsburg, KY – Reegan Hensley and
Bella Ricchiazzi netted four goals a piece to lead the sixth-ranked UC women's lacrosse team to a 15-4 win over (RV) Georgetown Wednesday night at the UC Lacrosse Complex. With the win, Cumberlands improves to 6-1 overall after winning their fifth straight and 2-0 in AAC play.
Ricchiazzi lead the way with four goals and four assists in the game, while Hensley chipped in five points.
Mia Rask, Marissa Helsten, and Morgan Teprstra each notched multiple goals in the win.
Anna Lobbezoo scooped a game-high nine ground balls, while
Christina Min and
Koral Hadac recorded four caused turnovers and three ground balls each.
Olivia McCarrell made five saves in the win.
The Patriots defense made a stop to get things going as

Reegan Hensley in front of the cage for a goal making it 1-0 with 12:22 remaining. Two minutes later, Ricchiazzi added an unassisted goal of her own to extend UC's lead to 2-0. UC's defense continue to keep the Tigers on their heals as
Morgan Tate connected with Hensley for her second goal of the contest making it 3-0 with 6:35 remaining. Just over a minute later, Hensley connected with
Marisa Helsten for a man-up goal before
Mia Rask added a goal making it 5-0 in favor of the Patriots.
UC's offense forced a turnover before Ricchiazzi found Rask cutting towards the cage for a goal extending their lead just over a minute into the second quarter. Both defenses limited the opposition chances as the two teams traded goals before
Morgan Terpstra put the Patriots in front 8-1 with an unassisted goal at the 2:30 mark. Cumberlands looked to extend their lead but couldn't convert taking an 8-1 lead into the break.
Emma Rittman won the opening draw control of the third quarter and found Helsten for a goal 12 seconds in to make it 9-1. The two teams traded goals before
Aleyah Belton forced a turnover and on the ensuing possession Ricchiazzi connected with Helsten for a goal making it 11-2. The two teams traded goals, before Belton netted a man-up goal extending the lead to 13-3 with 4:32 remaining. Georgetown cut the lead to 13-4 heading into the fourth period.
Ricchiazzi forced a turnover on the first possession of the fourth quarter and on the ensuing possession found Hensley for her fourth goal of the contest. Ricchiazzi added her fourth goal of game minutes later to extend the lead to 15-4 with 9:27 remaining. Cumberlands continued strong defense as they held on for the 15-4 final.
The Patriots return the field Saturday, March 11, when they host ninth-ranked Aquinas. The game is set to start at 2 p.m. with live video available
