Williamsburg, KY - The fifth-ranked UC women's lacrosse team had 13 players record at least a point, including six that finished with at least five points, in the 26-1 win over Truett-McConnell Saturday afternoon at the UC Lacrosse Complex. The Patriots celebrated senior day by extending their win streak to 11 straight, which is the third longest in program history, while they improve to 12-1 overall and 6-0 in AAC play.
Senior
Reegan Hensley lead the way for UC with a game-high five goals and seven points, while
Emma Rittman,
Marisa Helsten, and
Bella Ricchiazzi all allied three goals and two assists.
Morgan Terpstra dished out four assists to go along with a goal, while
Morgan Tate tallied five points.
Koral Hadac tied her career-high with 12 draw controls, while Rittman scooped eight as she becomes the fourth Patriot player with to surpass 100 draw controls in a season.
Aleyah Belton scooped a team-high five ground balls. Senior
Olivia McCarrell earned the win between the pipes for UC.
Cumberlands strike early with two goals in the opening minute of the contest as Ricchiazzi and
Anna Lobbezoo found the cage to put UC in front early. The Patriots won the next four draw controls and quickly extended their lead to 6-0, with a pair of goals coming from Hensley. Minutes later
Erin Bryant scooped a ground ball and on the possession
Reese Kincaid netted an unassisted goal to make it 7-0 midway through the quarter. The two teams traded goals before Cumberlands closed out the period with three unanswered goals to take an 11-1 advantage.
Koral Hadac won the opening draw control of the second quarter and on the possession Ricchiazzi found Rittman cutting towards the cage for a goal to make it 12-1. Hensley notched back-to-back goals before connected with
Mia Rask for a goal extending the lead to 15-1. The Patriots added a goal in the closing second of the half as Terpstra found
Marisa Helsten for a goal to make it 16-1.
Just over a minute into the third quarter, Rittman forced a Bears turnover, scooped the ground ball, and put a well-placed shot into the cage. Cumberlands continued to control the clock and added four unanswered goals, including a goal and an assist from
Morgan Tate to make it 21-1 heading into the fourth quarter.
Hadac and Helsten each netted a goal in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 23-1. A couple minutes later,
Erin Bryant notched her first career assist as she found Rask in front of the cage for a goal to make it 25-1.
Madison Rupp tallied her second career goal, this one off an assists from Terpstra for the 26-1 final.
Cumberlands outshot Truett-McConnell 39-3 in the game, won the draw control battle 24-6 and had a 24-10 edge on ground balls.
The Patriots will return to the field Wednesday, April 5, when they travel Athens, TN to face Tennessee Wesleyan.
