Williamsburg, KY – The ninth-ranked UC women's tennis team earned its second consecutive sweep as they defeated Georgetown 7-0 Thursday afternoon at the UC Tennis Court.  The win improves the Patriots to 17-1 overall and 8-0 in conference play.

Cumberlands jumped out to a quick lead as Meiri Okuwaki and Mikaela Fros earned a 6-0 win at #1 doubles to give the Pats the advantage.  The duo has improved to 13-3 on the season and has won four straight matches.  At #2 doubles, Fan Shiau and Marina Nagai controlled throughout the match as they defeated Emma Hill and Lydia Prince 6-1 to clinch the doubles point.  Laura Prieto and Catherine Rae traded points with Madison Shelton and Hana Dixon at #3 doubles.  After the match was tied at 4-4, the duo of Prieto and Rae tallied the final two points for the 6-4 win to improve to 9-0 on the year.

UC's strong play continued in singles play as Prieto earned a straight set win 6-3, 6-0 at the #2 position to make it 2-0.  The Patriots earned a pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins from Okuwaki at #1 singles and Nagai at #3 singles to clinch the match and extend UC's lead to 4-0.

At #5 singles, Mikaela Fros extended her win streak to 15 straight matches with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lydia Prince.  On the season, the senior has posted a 16-1 singles record.  Shiau defeated Shelton 6-0, 6-2 at #4 singles before Johanna Beckmann closed out the match knocking off Abby Goss 6-2, 6-1 for the 7-0 final.

Cumberlands will close out the regular season on Saturday, April 15, as they host Pikeville at 1 p.m.  The Patriots are looking to clinch their third Mid-South Conference title in program history.  UC will honor their seniors prior to the match.
