Pulaski, TN - The eighth-ranked UC women's tennis team scored the first six points of the match to close out their conference road trip with a 6-1 over (RV) UT-Southern Sunday afternoon. With this win, the Patriots move to 14-1 on the season and improve to 6-0 in MSC play.

Doubles play began with Cumberlands taking the early advantage as
Meiri Okuwaki and
Mikaela Fros took #1 doubles 6-1. After an exchange of leads,
Laura Prieto and
Catherine Rae secured the doubles point for UC with a 7-5 win at #3 doubles.

Okuwaki picked up where she left off by sweeping Victoria Sanches 6-0, 6-0 to extend the lead to 2-0. Prieto followed suit by taking #2 singles over Margaret Lucas, making it 3-0 in favor of the Patriots. The sophomore took the first set 6-2, before battling to take the second 7-5.

With a win at #5 singles,
Mikaela Fros secured UC's 14th win of the season, by giving the Patriots the 4-0 advantage. The graduate student defeated Yen-Ju Chang in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.

Otone Odajima put the Firehawks on the board with a win at #3 singles.
Johanna Beckmann then defeated Sarah Teoro De Morias in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 to make it 5-1.
Fan Shiau finished out the day for Cumberlands by beating Emely Castro 6-2, 6-2 at #5 singles for the 6-1 final.

The Patriots will use this win to motivate their busy week as they are set to host a trio of home matches, starting with Union on Wednesday, April 5th.
