Williamsburg, KY – UC finished their home meet strong with three first-place finishes to go along with three national "A" standards. UC finished second overall in the team standings, scoring 129 points over the two-day meet.
Saturday started with the 5k racewalk where Carson Johnson took home a first place finish and another "A" cut. Christopher Greer paced a 34:47.95 in this race for seventh as well.
The second standard of the day came in the next race, the 4x100 relay. Kerrington Eubanks and Elyon Bando raced the first two legs before Ryan Long and Matthew Chavers took over for a 41.24 finish. The squad hit another NAIA Standard, and finished second overall.
UC's relays continued to shine, as the 4x400 team came away with a victory in the final race of the meet. Jeremy Slaughter fired out of the blocks before passing the baton to Chavers. Deiron White handled the third leg and had a clean handoff to Eubanks who sprinted to a 3:19.05 finish overall. Cumberlands second relay team of Jon O'Hair, Bando, Christian Dingus, and Deshawn Crowe also had a solid race, finishing third in 3:24.16.
Chavers and White also had great performances in the 100m dash as Matt placed third with a 10.81 time and Deiron placed seventh in 10.94. The sprinters were not done yet, as four Pats finished top-ten in the 200m dash. The trio of Long, Eubanks, and Bando went four, five, six with times of 21.68, 21,70, and 21.70 while White clocked a 22.17 for ninth.
Deshawn Crowe was responsible for the final Patriot victory of the evening after clocking a 1:55.78 in the 800m run. Caleb Rigney finished his race in 1:56.69 for fourth while Andrew Barker came away with seventh after a 1:57.42 finish. The 400m race saw Jon O'Hair place eighth, completing his lap in 50.80.
The 400 hurdles saw four Patriots in the top-nine finishers. Andy Tchyombo led the way with a silver medal finish after crossing the finish line in 55.40. Christian Dingus and Matthew Yeary placed back-to-back for fourth and fifth with finishes of 56.71 and 57.90 while Alex Miller clocked a 59.65 for ninth.
The field athletes also put together multiple solid showings in Williamsburg. Tristan Petrey hit another standard in the pole vault portion of the decathlon, clearing the bar at 4.80m. Mason Smith was the highest Patriot finisher in the decathlon, placing ninth with 3483 points.
Xavier Ramsey entered the shot put circle, and came out with seventh place with a 12.85m throw in his fourth attempt. The hammer throw also featured a UC thrower in the top-10, as Aaron Coffey finished ninth with a 44.33m throw.
UC finished second as a team on the weekend, with Findlay taking first after scoring 201.5 points. UC scored 129 while Lindsey Wilson finished third with 110 points respectively.
Cumberlands will be back in action in two weeks as they travel up to Richmond, KY to compete at Eastern Kentucky University.
