Lima, OH – After scoring the lone goal in the first eight minutes of play, the Patriots valiant effort resulted in a 1-1 draw against Baker University on Saturday. Cumberlands is now 0-1-2 to start the season.

Altogether, UC had 12 shots with four being on frame. Emil Skursch tallied two shots and recorded the Pats lone goal of the afternoon. Shuma Sasaki followed with four shots, two on goal, rounded out by Macaya Jesus with three shots.

The Patriots were aggressive from the start with a corner kick from Sasaki in the first six minutes of play. In the eighth minute, a pass across the box from Bart-Jaan Braams assisted Skursch for his first goal of the 2023 season and of his career.

The second half held a Pats lead with strong defense through the 80^th minute of play. The Wildcats took advantage of a free kick to even the playing field, 1-1. The Patriots were resilient on defense with a goal save from Brandon Diaz and a blocked shot to result in a draw.

UC will be back in action in just six days time, traveling to face Life University. The game is set to kick off at 7:00 PM ET on Friday, September 1 in Marietta, GA.
