Patriots Dominate Dragons with 129-52 Win

Williamsburg, KY – The Pats put on a show in front of the local community as they took down Virginia University Lynchburg 129-52 on Elementary Day. UC invited local students to come watch today's game, which featured 11 different Patriot scorers. UC shot over 62% from the field and outscored the Dragons 66-19 in the first half.

Ryan Davidson led the offensive charge with a career-high 24 points while Anthony Johnson added 23 pts, 7 ast, and 6 reb in just 12 minutes on the court. Matthew Cromer added 16 points with Barek Williams and Jeremiah Godfrey scoring career highs of 15 and 11 points respectively. Tajahri Cave also finished in double digits, with 13 points, six boards, and five assists.

UC started hot and never looked back, opening the game on a 15-0 run. The Dragons scored their first points five minutes into the game before Johnson knocked down a three for his ninth point of the game. The lead grew to 21 after a three from Cromer and a Cave bucket. UC continued to score at will, as the lead grew to 40 with just over two minutes to play in the half. The remainder of the half saw Davidson add five points and a big slam from Godfrey to give UC the 66-19 advantage at the half. Johnson finished the half with 21 points, five rebounds, and four assists while Cromer and Brady Bell added 20 points collectively.

The Dragons scored the first bucket of the second half before 15 straight Patriot points increased the lead to 60. This stretch saw a pair of Harry Morrice dunks, a triple from Cromer, and multiple nice finishes from Johnson and Williams. A trio of threes from Williams and Tanner Walton continued the scoring before a Davidson three and and-one on back-to-back possessions pushed UC over the 100-point mark with 10:44 to play. Threes from Williams and Godfrey brought the score to 110-33 with eight minutes remaining. Kyler McLendon joined in on the scoring, adding five points in the final six minutes to bring the final score to 129-52.

UC's 129 points marks the most point by the Patriots in over two decades. They move to 7-0 on the season and have now recorded 21 straight wins at home in the O. Wayne Rollins Center. Cumberlands will be back on the hardwood next week at the Campbellsville Classic taking on Brescia on Nov. 22nd at 4 PM.
