Pats Finish Season on Senior Day

Williamsburg, KY – The Patriots finished their season at home on Senior Day with a tough contest against the 25th ranked Campbellsville Tigers. The Pats fell 47-7 to CU, moving to 5-5 overall this season.

Cumberlands finished the game with 254 yards of offense, compiling 174 tards through the air while the defense had a pair of sacks on the day. Trace Thompson went 8-18 passing with 138 yards and a touchdown. Cade Lamb made a pair of grabs for 48 yards while Adam Foulk recorded two catches and the lone TD of the contest for UC. Job Matossian punted five times, averaging over 48 yards per punt, with a long of 65 yards.

Defensively, Adam Caudle was once again the team's leading tackler with 10 total, and 1.4 tackles for loss. He finishes his career with 322 tackles, 34 TFL, and 12.5 sacks, ranking fourth in program history in TFL and fifth in total tackles. Reagan Cherry added six tackles and 0.5 TDL while Chris Gooden and Jamin Graham added the team's two sacks as well.

Campbellsville took the opening kickoff, but were stopped on fourth and two, giving the pats back the ball. Neither team scored in the entire first quarter, but the Tigers dominated the second scoring 17 straight points to take a commanding lead into the half. The Pats defense held the Tigers to just a field goal on the opening drive of the second quarter until a fake punt from Campbellsville extended the following drive, leading to a pair of scores with less than three minutes, shifting the momentum completely in CU's favor into the locker room.

Cumberlands received the ball to open the second half, but a pick-six on third down extended the CU lead. The Tigers ended the quarter with a 33-0 advantage over UC. After another Tiger TD, the Patriots went on a six-play, 32-yard scoring drive to get on the board. Thompson completed a pass to EJ Howard to begin the drive followed by a pair of rushes to bring a fourth and two on the opposing 27. Coach Shan Housekeeper made the call to go for it, which was the right decision as Thompson connected with Ben Taylor for 15 yards and a first-down. The next play, Thompson made a pass to Foulk who made a play in the back of the endzone for a touchdown. The final buzzer sounded with the Tigers winning 47-7.

This completes the Patriots season. They finish 5-5 overall, and 2-4 in Mid-South Conference action.
