Williamsburg, KY – The #11 UC men's tennis team earned their second consecutive 6-1 victory, as they defeated the Milligan Buffaloes at the UC Tennis Complex on Saturday.
The Pats started strong, sweeping doubles play to earn the early 1-0 lead.
Martin Muller and
Hung Ju Wu earned the first win, with a dominant 6-1 victory over Carter Rigsby and Nathan Smiley at #1 doubles.
Liam Savio and
Gabriele Solda followed that up by defeating Stefan Macheiner and Brayden Kennedy at #3 doubles.
Manuel Fernandez Guede and
Lucas Duran closed doubles play with a 6-4 win over
Thiago Petry and Gonzaga Lafarga.
Luis Marcos earned the first singles victory of the day for UC at #3 singles. The freshman defeated Nathan Smiley 6-4, 7-6 to put UC up 2-0.
The Buffs would take the next match at #2 singles to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Cumberlands bounced back with a three-set victory at #1 singles.
Martin Muller picked up the win over Stefan Macheiner 7-5, 6-7, 6-t to put UC up 3-1.
Juanchi Alcon sealed the deal with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory over Justin Rigby at #5 singles.
With the game already won, the Pats continued to battle, taking the final two matches.
The Pats garnered another dominant victory, as
Liam Savio defeated Marcos Moreno 6-1, 6-1 at #6 singles.
Pierluigi Cruypenninck earned the final win of the day at #4 singles to secure the 6-1 victory. The senior emerged victorious in a three-set battle against
Thiago Petry 6-1, 6-7, 10-8.
UC is back in action on Tuesday, as they host (RV) Huntington University at the UC Tennis Complex.
