Williamsburg, KY – The #22 UC men's tennis team earned a shut-out victory (RV) Campbellsville to open the Mid-South Conference slate on Saturday.
Cumberlands swept doubles play to earn the 1-0 lead.
Martin Muller and
Hung Ju Wu defeated Nicholas Andrade and Nahuel Hernando 6-1 at the #1 spot.
Killian Surmont and
Billy Chiang Chia Chun secured the doubles point with a 6-1 win at #2 singles over Manuel Pinheiro and Sebastian Toledo.
Muller continued his successful day with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Manuel Pinheiro at #1 singles to put the Pats up 2-0.
Wu followed that up with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Nicholas Andrade at #3 singles, giving the Pats a 3-0 advantage.
Surmont sealed the win for UC with a three-set victory at #2 singles. The sophomore defeated Nahuel Hernando 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
The Pats continued to roll, taking the last three matches to preserve the 7-0 victory.
Liam Savio defeated Sebastian Toledo 6-3, 6-4 at the #4 spot, while
Pierluigi Cruypenninck earned a victory over Nathan Boulard 6-3, 6-2 at #5 singles.
Lucas Augotr cemented the 7-0 victory with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Mario Sanchez at the #6 spot.
The Patriots are back in action on Sunday, March 17
th as they face off against Freed-Hardeman.
