Williamsburg, KY – The #24 Patriots women's tennis team opened the Mid-South Conference slate with a close 4-3 contest over #25 Campbellsville on Saturday.
The Tigers started strong by sweeping doubles play to earn the early 1-0 advantage.
The Patriots tied things up at one, as
Marina Nagai defeated Angela Mendoza 6-1, 6-2 at #2 singles.
The Tigers took the next two matches to go up 3-1.
The Pats battled back as
Liu YuFang captured a victory to cut the deficit to 3-2. YuFang earned a dominant 6-1, 6-2 win over Miho Akita at the #3 spot.
Fan Shiau evened the score after picking up a win at #5 singles. Shiau earned a dominant win over Clara Asprella 6-1, 6-2.
Tied at three, the match would come down to UC's
Jirachavala Puckaporn and CU's Andrea Ovejero at the #6 spot.
The Patriots are back in action on Sunday, March 17
th as they face off against Freed-Hardeman.
