Georgetown, KY – The UC men's tennis team defeated Georgetown 7-0 on Saturday, improving to 3-0 in Mid-South Conference action.
The Pats opened the day, taking two of three doubles matches to capture the early 1-0 lead.
Killian Surmont and
Billy Chiang Chia Chun earned the first win, blanking Leo Schrimer and Tsugunosuke Hirose 6-0 at the #2 spot.
Martin Muller and
Hung Ju Wu followed that up with a 6-3 win over Maxcene Barriere and Will Barnes at the #1 spot to secure the doubles point.
Liam Savio opened singles play strong with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win at the #3 spot, giving UC a 2-0 advantage.
Surmont continued his successful day with a win at #2 singles. After dropping the first set 7-5, the sophomore earned back-to-back 6-0 wins to put the Pats up 3-0.
Muller secured the overall win for the Pats with a win at the #1 spot. Muller dropped the first set 7-5, but the senior responded with consecutive 6-4 wins to secure the singles victory.
The Patriots continued to build, taking the final three matches to preserve the 7-0 victory.
Hung Ju Wu earned a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win over Leo Schrimer at the #4 spot, while
Pierluigi Cruypenninck defeated Chase Hechemy 6-4, 6-1 at #5 singles.
Lucas Augotr closed the day with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Stephen Taylor at the #6 spot.
Cumberlands returns to action on March 25
th, as the Pats travel to Columbia, KY to face #15 Lindsey Wilson.
