Williamsburg, KY – The #24 Cumberlands women's tennis team earned a solid 5-2 victory over Lewis-Clark State on Thursday.
The Pats opened the day taking two of three doubles matches to capture the early 1-0 advantage.
Jirachavala Puckaporn and
Liu YuFang earned the first victory of the day, blanking Rayana Shah and Marina Perez 6-0 at #2 doubles.
Marina Nagai and
Blanca Lopez defeated Paige Noble-Lucas and Maria Eduardo Santos 6-3 at the #3 spot to secure the doubles point.
Nagai continued her solid day with a dominant singles win to give UC a 2-0 lead. The sophomore earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Beatriz Lambru at the #1 spot.
YuFang followed that up with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Paige Noble-Lucas at #3 singles, giving the Pats a 2-1 lead.
After the Warriors won the next two matches to cut deficit to 3-2, UC responded with a win at #6 singles to secure the overall victory for the Pats.
Puckaporn picked up this win, defeating Maria Eduardo Santos 6-4, 6-4.
Lopez closed the day with a three-set win over Heidi Moyo (6-1, 4-6, 6-1) to seal the 5-2 UC victory.
UC returns to action on April 6th, as the Pats host Cumberland at the UC Tennis Complex.
