Williamsburg, KY – The #24 Cumberlands women's tennis team 6-1 at the UC Tennis Complex on Saturday.
The Patriots started the day strong, taking two of the three doubles matches to gain the early 1-0 advantage.
The Phoenix battled back, taking the first singles match to even the score at one.
UC pulled back ahead, as Nagai captured a victory at #2 singles. The sophomore earned a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win over Valentina Mendez.
Blanca Lopez earned the next singles win for the Pats, taking down Lara Zugasti 6-2, 6-3 at the #4 spot to give UC a 3-1 lead.
Liu YuFang secured the overall victory for Cumberlands with a win at the #3 spot. YuFang defeated Kaede Hatano 6-3, 6-7, 6-1.
The Pats won the final two matches of the day to seal the 6-1 victory of the Phoenix.
Fan Shiau defeated Madeleine Darud 6-3, 6-3 at #5 singles, while
Jirachavala Puckaporn earned a three-set victory over Alexandra Leisibach (6-3, 2-6, 6-4) at the #6 spot.
UC closes the regular season on Friday, April 12
th, hosting (RV) Bethel at the UC Tennis Complex.
