Phenomenal Defensive Efforts Lead #20 UC to Victory over #8 Rams

Atlanta, GA – An NAIA Top 25 match-up occurred inside the MOBA Soccer Complex between #20 Cumberlands Patriots and #8 Mobile Rams. The Pats secured a 1-0 victory off the boot of Rodrigo Riveros in the 40', followed by phenomenal defensive efforts in the second half.

Collectively, UC tallied five shots with three being on frame. Rodrigo Riveros led the way, recording one goal with two shots and two on frame. Salvador Martinez followed with one shot and one on frame while Shuma Sasaki and Emil Skursch had a shot apiece.

In the first half, Cumberlands was first to attack on offense with a shot on frame from Martinez in the first minute followed by a shot from Sasaki that was just high. The Rams responded with a corner kick and a shot on frame in the 16'.

Both teams were evenly matched on the pitch until the Pats found their offensive spark once again. A shot on frame from Riveros in the 33rd minute paved the way for Riveros goal in the 39' off a pass across the box from Nicolas Caicedo to give UC a 1-0 advantage going into the half.

After holding the Rams to three shots in the first half, the second half saw Cumberlands having to work tirelessly on defense. The Rams were seen with a corner kick in the 49' followed by a shot on frame where a diving Javiero Izquierdo Cuervo kept the Rams scoreless.

The Rams recorded 10 shots in the second half, but a strong back line and presence in the box prevented Mobile from tying the match. After full completion, the Pats recorded their third win of the season with a 1-0 victory over the Rams.

UC will be back in action on Monday, remaining in Atlanta for their final two games of the weekend. The game will be held against #11 Keiser University (FL) at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 2nd.
