Cleveland, GA – The Patriots hit the road for a non-conference match against #13 Truett McConnell and couldn't overcome an early deficit as they fall 3-0 Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Bears improve to 11-0-1, while the Patriots move to 8-3-3.
Cumberlands tallied nine shots and earned five corner kicks in the match.
Alba Ramirez and
Nicole Araujo each notched three shots in the game, while goalie
Morgan White made three saves.
Truett McConnell struck early with a goal in the 4' jumping out to the 1-0 lead. White notched a save three minutes later to keep it a one goal game. The two teams traded possession throughout the first have as Ramirez notched a pair of shots in the first 20 minutes of action. UC looked for an equalizer tallying a pair of corner kicks and a shot that sailed high keeping the score 1-0 at the break.
The Patriots looked for the equalizer a minute into the second half as Araujo's shot was just off the mark.
Evelyn Saldivar and Juliette Charriez each added a shot but couldn't convert as the score remained 1-0. The Bears extended their lead with a pair of goals, in a five minute span, to extend their lead to 3-0 in the '80. Cumberlands earned a pair of corner kicks over the final 10 minutes but couldn't convert as the final seconds ticked away.
The Patriots return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 15, when they host Campbellsville in an MSC showdown. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the UC Soccer Complex.
