Patriots Earn 4-0 Win in Regular Season Finale

McKenzie, TN – The #9 Patriots continued their strong efforts, netting three second half goals en route to a 4-0 win over Bethel Saturday afternoon.  With the win, UC closes out the regular season 11-3-3 and 4-2 in MSC play.

Four different Patriots netted goals in the game, including Nicole Araujo, Alba Ramriez, Carola Fontan, and Kayah Robbins. Morgan White made six saves in the match, while Cumberlands backline of Maliah Mitchell, Samantha Sokolove, Madison Long, and Karla Waibel combined for the clean sheet.

The Patriots controlled the possession from the opening whistle recording a trio of shots, including a pair from Sara Soto, in the first ten minutes of action.  The two teams traded possession over the next few minutes until Cumberlands notched a corner kick and a shot on goal by Madison Long, but it was saved keeping the match scoreless midway through the first half.  UC continued to apply pressure as Abigail Little's shot deflected off the post, however, two minutes later Nicole Araujo slid a great shot into the net for a goal putting the Patriots in front 1-0.  It was Araujo's eight goal of the season, which is a new career-high for the senior and leads the team.

UC extended their pressure into the second half as Little put a shot on frame three minutes into the period. Moments later, Alba Ramirez put a well-placed shot into the back of the net extending Cumberlands lead to 2-0.  The Wildcats looked to rally putting three shots on frame, which was handled easily by Morgan White to keep the Pats in front.  UC extend their lead in the 62' as Carola Fontan connected with the back of the net making it a 3-0 lead.  White added two saves to preserve the clean sheet, while Kayah Robbins tallied a late goal for the 4-0 final.

The Patriots will return to the field as they host the quarterfinals of the MSC Tournament.  UC will host Georgetown on Wednesday, October 29th, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
