Williamsburg, KY – Lakin Burke and
Zaram Fredricks each tallied a double-double, while six Patriots were in double figures as #19 UC defeated IU Southeast 87-56, Tuesday night on Randy Vernon Court. With the win, Cumberlands improves to 9-1 on the season, while the Grenadiers move to 2-5.
Fredricks notched her fourth double-double of the year with 11 points and 17 rebounds, while Burke notched a season-high 13 rebounds to go along with 12 points.
Joy Kendrick and
Aden Clark combined for 28 points and 12 assists, while Anderson tallied 11 points and five rebounds.
Jaydyn Carrico chipped in 10 points in the win.
The two teams trade possession before

Jaydyn Carrico for a layup to make it a 2-0 lead.
Lakin Burke added a rebound and putback extending the Patriots advantage to 4-0. The Patriots continued strong defense as
Darcie Anderson drained a three-pointer before tallying a steal and connecting with Carrico for a layup to make it 10-0 with 6:22 remaining. Cumberlands pressured the offensive glass grabbing multiple boards before
Zaram Fredricks converts a layup to make it 13-3 midway through the quarter. IU Southeast added a pair of three-pointers before an
Amy Thompson three-pointer sparked an 8-0 run to extend the lead to 21-9 with 3:01 remaining.
Aden Clark added five straight points to close out the quarter as UC took the 28-15 lead.
Both teams hit a field goal before Carrico connected with Anderson for a three-pointer to make it 33-19 a minute into the second quarter. IU Southeast went on an 13-3 run to cut the lead to 36-33 midway through the second quarter. The Patriots responded with back-to-back jumpers from Burke and
Peyton Mounce put UC back in front 40-33. Cumberlands went on a 5-0 run to close out the first half including a three-point by Anderson to take the 45-35 lead at the break.
The Patriots grabbed a pair of offensive rebounds before Carrico hit a layup on the first possession of the third quarter. Anderson connected with Carrico for a layup before notching a block and rebound as UC extended their lead to 51-35. The Patriots hit three straight jumpers, to extend their lead to 57-38 midway through the third quarter. Both teams traded points before Mounce connected with Burke for a layup as UC took the 62-42 advantage. UC netted five unanswered points to close out the quarter giving them the 67-42 lead.
Both teams traded possession in the opening minutes of the period before Kendrick connected for a triple before Carrico found Fredricks for a layup to make it 72-43. Fredrick grabbed her 15
th rebound of game before finding Anderson for a layup giving UC 77-47 lead midway through the period. The Patriots outscored the Grenadiers 10-9 over the final five minutes, including baskets from
Mackenzie Babb and
Alexia Wilson for the 87-56 final.
Cumberlands shot 49.2% from the field in the game and 52.6% from behind-the-arc. They outrebounded IU Southeast 56-22 on the night.
UC returns to the court Tuesday, December 2, when they host Washington Adventist. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
