Williamsburg, KY – The #18 Patriots Men's Tennis team had a strong performance on Friday afternoon with a dominate 7-0 win over Indiana Wesleyan at the UC Tennis Complex.
Cumberlands got out to an early 1-0 lead after taking two of three matches to secure the doubles point.
Liam Savio and Gabriele Solda defeated Valentino Trento and Ethan Gray at #1 doubles, 6-4, while Darius Kuster and Sampras Rakotondrainibe earned a 6-1 victory at the #3 spot.
Savio continued his impressive showing with a convincing win in #1 singles. The graduate student captured a 6-0, 6-1 straight set victory against Ethan Gray to put UC up 2-0.
Juanchi Alcon followed with a straight set victory of his own over Timo Fischer. The senior recorded identical scores of 6-1, 6-1, extending the Pats lead to 3-0.
In #3 singles, Luis Marcos recorded another singles victory to secure the overall win for UC. Marcos defeated Leif Clerc 6-1, 6-2 to put this one out of reach.
The Pats continued to build the lead, taking the final three matches to preserve the shutout victory.
Gabriele Solda, Darius Kuster, and Lucas Augotr all earned straight set wins over their opponent to round out the match.
UC will be back in action next Wednesday, March 5th against #24 Huntington at the UC Tennis Complex.
