Danville, KY – The #16 UC Men's Tennis team earned their sixth win in a row, blanking Centre College 7-0 in Danville, KY on Saturday.
UC was impressive right out of the gate, sweeping doubles play to gain an early 1-0 lead.
Liam Savio and
Juanchi Alcon earned the first win, earning a 6-2 victory over Ty Bush and Ben Rueff at #1 doubles.
Gabriele Solda and
Darius Kuster secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Dylan Dethridge and Emilo Ventura Ramirez at #2 doubles.
Sampras Rakotondrainibe and
Manuel Fernandez Guede closed doubles play with a 6-2 win at the #3 spot.
Savio continued his successful day, with a 7-6, 6-2 win over Ben Rueff at #1 singles, giving the Pats a 2-0 lead.
Alcon followed that up with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Ty Bush at #2 singles to put UC up 3-0.
Luis Marcos secured the overall victory for Cumberlands, after earning the victory at #3 singles to put UC up 4-0. The sophomore defeated Anderson Gosnell in straight-sets, 6-1, 6-2.
The Patriots continued to stack wins, emerging victorious in final three singles matches to complete the 7-0 shutout.
Gabriele Solda earned his second point of the day with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Emerson Dean at #4 singles.
In #5 singles,
Sampras Rakotondrainibe emerged victorious, defeating Chase Turley 6-3, 6-3 and
Vivier Thibaud earned the final win of the day with a win at #6 singles over William Howell 6-1, 6-0.
UC is back in action on Tuesday, hosting (RV) McPherson College at the UC Tennis Complex.
