Williamsburg, KY – The UC Women's Tennis team, ranked 19th in the NAIA, secured a 6-1 win over Freed-Hardeman in their MSC opener at the UC Tennis Complex.

Cumberlands grabbed the early 1-0 lead, taking the first two doubles matches to clinch the point.

Mahiro Hara and Liu YuFang earned the first win of the day for the Pats, defeating Morgan Brown and Elise Kruzan 6-2 at #1 doubles. Karen Kondo partnered with Bryndis Rosa to notch a dominant 6-0 win over Cecily Davis and Kennley Kirk at the #3 spot.

Karen Kondo continued her successful day with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Elise Kruzan at #1 singles to give UC a 2-0 lead.

Marina Nagai extended the Cumberlands lead to 3-0 at #2 singles. Nagai defeated Morgan Brown in straight-sets, 6-1, 6-4.

After Freed-Hardeman was able to secure a win at #3 singles, Mahiro Hara clinched the overall team win. Hara took down Hannah Pearce at #4 singles in dominant fashion, 6-0, 6-1.  

After the match was won, the Pats added two more wins at the #5 and #6 spots. 

Rion Yanuma defeated Kennley Kirk 6-0, 6-2, while Bryndis Rosa won her match at #6 singles over Cecily Davis 6-1, 6-0.

Cumberlands will be back in action on March 26th when they travel to Milligan College, TN to take on Milligan.
