Milligan College, TN – #19 Cumberlands blanked Milligan 7-0 at Mathes Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon, improving to 11-4 on the season and are winners of four straight.
UC jumped out to the early 1-0 lead, sweeping the doubles matches to secure the point.
Liu YuFang and
Mahiro Hara earned the first victory of the day over Lauren Wimmer and Sophie Dunman 6-4 at #1 doubles.
Eva Cancarevic partnered with
Skye Maclean to defeat Trinity Fox and Tiana Shelton 6-2 at the #2 spot. In the final doubles match,
Lucy Stojic and
Carlota Verdu took down Hannah Dove and Laurel Rich at #3 doubles, 6-1.
Karen Kondo earned the first singles victory to increase the lead to 2-0. Kondo defeated Sophie Dunman 6-2, 6-3 at #1 singles.
Marina Nagai was dominant from start to finish in her match, taking down Lauren Wimmer in straight-sets 6-0, 6-0 to give UC a 3-0 advantage.
Liu YuFang picked up her second victory of the day at #3 singles to clinch the overall team win for UC. The sophomore defeated Tiana Shelton 6-0, 6-2.
UC finished the day with three more wins to cement the 7-0 shutout victory.
Rion Yanuma emerged victorious over Trinity Fox 6-4, 6-4 at #4 singles, while
Victoria Zarate won her match at #5 singles in straight-sets 6-1, 6-0 over Laurel Rich.
Bryndis Rosa completed the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Hannah Dove at the #6 spot.
Cumberlands will be back action next Wednesday April 2
nd to host Georgetown for a Mid-South Conference match. That match is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET from the UC Tennis Complex.
