Milligan College, TN – The #15 UC Men's Tennis team extended their winning streak to nine with a strong 6-1 win at Milligan on Wednesday afternoon.
UC grabbed the early 1-0 lead, taking two of three doubles matches to secure the doubles point.
Darius Kuster and
Gabriele Solda earned the first victory of the day, defeating Thiago Petry and Marcos Moreno 6-1 at #2 doubles.
Sampras Rakotondrainibe partnered with
Manuel Fernandez Guede to defeat Brayden Kennedy and Tomas Tenil at the #3 spot, 6-3.
Milligan opened singles play with a win at the #1 spot to even the match at 1-1.
Juanchi Alcon put the Pats back in front at 2-1 with a victory at #2 singles. Alcon defeated Tomas Tenil 6-1, 6-2 to secure the straight-set victory.
Luis Marcos extended the lead to 3-1 after taking his match over Michal Curlej 6-3, 6-2 at the #3 spot.
At #4 singles,
Gabriele Solda clinched the overall team win for the Patriots with identical scores of 6-2, 6-2 over Martin Mercarder.
The Patriots continued to stack wins, emerging victorious in the final two singles matches to complete the 6-1 win.
In #5 singles,
Pierluigi Cruypenninck emerged victorious, defeating Thiago Petry 6-2, 6-1, while
Darius Kuster earned the final win of the day with a win at #6 singles over Marcos Moreno 6-1, 6-0.
Cumberlands will be back action next Wednesday April 2
nd to host Georgetown for a Mid-South Conference match. That match is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET from the UC Tennis Complex.
