Williamsburg, KY - The #15 Cumberlands Men's tennis team earned their tenth straight victory, defeating Georgetown in convincing fashion, 7-0, to improve to 2-0 in conference play.
The Patriots secured all three doubles matches to capture the early 1-0 advantage.Â
Liam Savio and Liu Juanchi Alcon defeated Leo Schirmer and Will Barnes 6-4 at the #1 spot, while Darius Kuster and Gabriele Solda earned a 6-0 win over Andrew Kennedy and Chase Hechemy at #2 doubles. Sampras Rakotondrainibe and Manuel Fernandez Guede also emerged victorious, defeating Alex Stragier and Tsugu Hirose.
Liam Savio continued his successful day with a dominant 6-2, 6-3 win over Will Barnes at #1 singles to put UC up 2-0.Â
Alcon followed that up with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Leo Schirmer at the #2 spot to give the Pats a 3-0 advantage.Â
Luis Marcos secured the overall win for the Pats, defeating Chase Hechemy 6-2, 6-0 at the #3 spot.Â
The Patriots preserved the shutout victory, taking the final three matches to end the match.
Gabriele Solda earned a hard-fought 2-6, 6-0, 10-4 victory over Tsugu Hirose at #4 singles, while Pierluigi Cruypenninck defeated Alex Stragier 6-2, 6-2 at the #5 spot.Â
Darius Kuster closed the day for the Pats with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Stephen Taylor at the #6 spot.Â
Cumberlands returns to action on April 4th, as the Pats travel to Lebanon, TN to face #12 Cumberland University.Â
