Williamsburg, KY - The #19 UC Women's tennis team earned their second consecutive shut-out victory with a 7-0 win over Georgetown in an MSC contest on Wednesday afternoon.
Cumberlands swept doubles play to grab the 1-0 lead.Â
Karen Kondo and Victoria Zarate defeated Lydia Prince / Maddie Gill 6-2 at the #1 spot. Liu YuFang and Mahiro Hara secured the doubles point with a 6-2 win at #2 doubles over Lindsey Rikkerink and Molly Archer. Marina Nagai and Rion Yanuma also emerged victorious, defeating Hana Dixon and Abby Moss, 6-0.
Karen Kondo continued her successful day with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Molly Archer at #1 singles to put the Pats up 2-0.Â
Marina Nagai picked up her second win of the day at #2 singles to put UC up 3-0. Nagai defeated Maddie Gill 6-0, 6-0, not dropping a single game.
Rion Yanuma sealed the win for UC with a straight-set win at #3 singles. The freshman dominated her match over Lindsey Rikkerink 6-0, 6-0.
At #4 singles, Liu YuFang defeated Abby Moss 6-4, 6-0, while Mahiro Hara earned a victory over Lydia Prince 6-1, 6-3 at #5 singles.
Victoria Zarate cemented the 7-0 victory with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Anna White at the #6 spot.Â
Cumberlands returns to action on April 4th, as the Pats travel to Lebanon, TN to face #25 Cumberland University.Â
