Williamsburg, KY – The 21st ranked UC Women's Tennis team defeated Huntington University, 4-1, at the UC Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon. Cumberlands improves to 5-2 overall on the season, riding a three-match winning streak.  

The Pats took an early 1-0 advantage after securing the doubles point. Rion Yanuma paired with Marina Nagai to defeat Tiziana Rizzato and Sofia Kurshinskaia 6-1 at #2 doubles. Bryndis Rosa and Victoria Zarate also earned a dominant 6-1 victory over Lilly Klingbeil and Grace Meyer in #3 doubles.  

UC brought that momentum into singles play. Marina Nagai collected her second point of the match with a hard-fought 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 win over Isabella Herrera to give Cumberlands a 2-0 lead.  

In #2 singles, Mahiro Hara defeated Addison Mast in straight sets 6-2, 6-4, extending the lead to 3-0.  

After the Phoenix picked up their first win in #3 singles, Mid-South Conference Player of the Week, Liu YuFang, earned a win in #4 singles over Sofia Kurshinskaia 6-0, 6-0 to secure the 4-1 victory for the Patriots. The rest of the match was left unfinished.  

Cumberlands will be back in action on Monday March 10th to face (RV) Pikeville at the UC Tennis Complex.
