Wichita, KS – The #4 Cumberlands Men's Wrestling team had one podium finisher on the final day of the 68th NAIA Men's Wrestling Championship. Senior O'Brian Black secured a seventh place finish to earn All-American honors for the first time in his career.
Cumberlands placed 18th overall, out of 30 schools, with 29 points.
Black, the sixth-seeded wrestler notched a seventh place finish in the 165-weight class after ending the championship with a 4-2 record. He finished the final day pf the championship with a 1-0 mark, emerging victorious in the seventh place match. Black defeated #9 Reese Jones (Life), the ninth seed, in an 11-4 decision. The Helena, AL native scored on three 3-point takedowns and two escapes.
This concludes an incredible season for the Patriots in which they won the Mid-South Conference title for the first time since 2021-22 and were ranked inside the top five of the NAIA all season long.
