London, KY – The 16
th-ranked UC women's golf team brought consistent play as the notched a runner-up finish at the Patriots Invite Tuesday afternoon at The Oaks of London Golf Course. The Patriots compiled a 54-hole team score of 949 (+85), while a trio of Cumberlands golfer tallied top-ten finishes.
Ainslee Cruce led the way for Cumberlands carding a 237 (+18) over the three rounds. Cruce set the tone for UC early being one-over-par through the first nine holes. On the par 3 sixth hole, the sophomore put a strong shot, sinking her first collegiate hole-in-one and moving to one-under-par. Cruce added a birdie on the 11
th hole to close out the day with a 75 (+2). The Bowling Green, KY native followed it up with an 82 (+9) in the second round and an 80 (+7) in the final round. Cruce carded four birdies and an eagle for her third top five finish of the season.
McKenzie Trautman finished one spot behind Cruce after recording a 238 (+19) at the tournament. Trautman opened with a 79 (+6), before carding a 76 (+3) to climb the leaderboard. In the second round, the sophomore birdied the par 3 11
th hole. Trautman closed out with an 83 (+10) to place sixth overall.
Atchariya Thanaudomkul notched her fourth top ten finish of the year after carding a 243 (+24). Thanaudomkul saw her score improve in each round with her lone birdie coming on her first hole of the third round as she birdied the par 5, 15
th hole.
Ginevra Capo and
Emily Allen rounded out the team scoring with a 249 (+30) and 251 (+32), respectively. Capo sank a birdied in each of the three rounds, while Allen notched a pair of birdies over the 54-hole tournament.
UC return to the course Monday, April 7
th, when they travel to Lebanon, TN to compete in the Music City Invitational.
