Williamsburg, KY – The #19 UC Women's Tennis team notched their sixth consecutive win with a 5-1 victory over (RV) Missouri Baptist on Saturday morning at the UC Tennis Complex.

The Pats opened the day taking the first two doubles matches to capture the early 1-0 advantage. Liu YuFang and Mahiro Hara secured the first doubles win, defeating Mariana Azevedo and Polina Agapitova 6-1 at the #2 spot. Marina Nagai and Rion Yanuma secured the point with a 6-3 win over Jocelynn Carmody and Mia Mclsaac at #3 doubles. 

Nagai kept the momentum going into singles play, earning her second point of the match with a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Nirva Patel at #1 singles, giving UC a 2-0 advantage.

Missouri Baptist scored at #2 singles to cut the deficit to 2-1.

UC responded with Liu YuFang taking down Yvonne Shannon in three sets. YuFang earned a 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 victory at #3 singles to give UC a 3-1 lead.

Mahiro Hara secured the overall team win for the Pats with a 6-1, 6-2 straight-set victory over Jocelynn Carmody at #4 singles.

At #5 singles, Victoria Zarate won the final match of the day to cement the 5-1 team win for UC. Zarate won her match over Teodora Lacob 6-1, 6-0.

Cumberlands will return to the courts on Tuesday April 8th as they hit the road to take on (RV) Campbellsville for an MSC contest.
