Bowling Green, KY – The two-seeded UC Men's Tennis team fell to the three-seed Cumberland University 4-2 on Thursday in the semifinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
The Phoenix jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after securing the doubles point, winning the first two matches at the #1 and #3 spots.
Cumberland University extended its lead to 2-0 with a win in #1 singles.
Luis Marcos earned the first win of the match for UC to cut the deficit to 2-1, defeating Vitor Ferreira 6-3, 6-2 at the #2 spot.
Gabriele Solda kept the momentum in favor of the Pats with a straight-set victory over Hassan Ammar at #3 singles, 6-2, 6-4.
The Phoenix would pick up wins at the #5 and #6 spots to clinch the overall team win at 4-2.
#13 UC now sits at 18-8 overall and awaits its fate for the NAIA National Tournament.
