Campbellsville, KY – The #15 UC Men's tennis team captured a dominant 7-0 victory over Campbellsville on Tuesday afternoon. Cumberlands moves to 3-0 in Mid-South Conference action.
UC had a strong start, sweeping doubles play to gain an early 1-0 lead.
Liam Savio and
Juanchi Alcon earned the first win, earning a 6-0 victory over Nathan Boulard and Sebastian Toledo at #1 doubles.
Gabriele Solda and
Darius Kuster secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Michael Harding and Manuel Pinheiro at #2 doubles.
Thibaud Vivier and
Apivich Rojpiboonphan closed doubles play with a 6-2 win at the #3 spot.
Savio continued his successful day, with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Manuel Pinheiro at #1 singles, giving the Pats a 2-0 lead.
Alcon followed that up with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Nathan Boulard at #2 singles to put UC up 3-0.
Luis Marcos secured the overall victory for Cumberlands, after earning the victory at #3 singles to put UC up 4-0. The sophomore defeated Sebastian Toledo in straight-sets, 6-3, 6-3.
The Patriots continued to build on their success, winning the final three matches to preserve the shutout.
Solda earned a dominant 6-0, 6-3 win over Michael Harding at #4 singles.
Pierluigi Cruypenninck defeated Juan Ochoa 6-1, 6-1 at #5 singles and
Darius Kuster cemented the 7-0 victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 singles.
UC is back in action on Thursday, traveling to Lebanon, TN to take on #12 Cumberland University.
