Berea, KY – The University of the Cumberlands men's cross country team turned in a complete team effort Friday night, posting a one-two finish in the individual standings at the Berea/Centre Jamboree, while finishing tied for the team title with 29 points, however, lost on the tie-breaker 3-2.
Cumberlands was led by a dominant one-two finish as
Casey DeSilvey claimed the individual title in 15:46.48, followed closely by
Sean Crady in 15:49.75. DeSilvey, who was making his Patriot debut, captured his first individual title on the 5k course.
The Patriots continued their strong showing with two additional runners that posted top-ten finishes.
Marius Maupoux crossed the line 16:11.82 to place sixth just ahead of
Caden Cull, who finished eighth with a time of 16:13.04.
Maddox Knight rounded out the scoring five in 12
th place, clocking a time of 16:23.00.
UC's sixth and seventh runners proved crucial in the tiebreaker as
Nathan Wagner finished 13
th (16:23.55) and
Lucas Hollinden placed 16
th (16:27.13). Cumberlands' depth didn't stop there as
Tammo Doerner (17th, 16:30.73),
Nate Powers (25th, 16:46.35),
Linus Schaller (31st, 17:10.52), and
Jackson Lowe (45th, 18:16.39) all contributed solid performances to strengthen the team's overall presence in the race.
MSC rivals Campbellsville finished third with 88 points, followed by Georgetown with 116 points.
UC will be back in action on Friday, September 12
th at the Southern Showcase hosted by Jacksonville State University in Huntsville, Alabama.
