Ose’s Brace; White’s Ten Saves Leads Patriots to 2-1 Road Win

Miami Gardens, FL – Wakana Ose recorded her first multigoal game as Patriot, while Morgan White made a career-high 10 saves as the fifth-ranked Cumberlands women's soccer team defeated St. Thomas 2-1 Thursday afternoon.  With the win, UC improves to 5-0-2, while the Bobcats move to 3-2-1 on the year.

Ose led the way for Cumberlands with a brace in the match, including the game-winning goal in the 88'. White made seven of her career-high 10 saves in the first half, keeping St. Thomas offense in check.  Laura Bosca tallied an assist in the match.
St. Thomas looked for the early advantage as with a trio of shots on frame, but Morgan White was there for the saves keeping the match scoreless.  Cumberlands looked to take the lead on a counterattack as Alba Ramirez tallied a shot that sailed over the crossbar.  The two teams traded possession over the next few minutes, before White made four consecutive saves keeping the match scoreless.  The seven first half saves are a new career-high for the Louisville, KY native.  The Patriots notched a shot from Wakana Ose and a corner kick in the closing minutes of the half however didn't convert keeping the match scoreless.

Cumberlands took control of the possession in the second half putting pressure on St. Thomas.  In the 49' the Patriots played the ball out wide to Laura Bosca. Bosca took a couple dribbles before crossing it into the box, where it deflected off Kayah Robbins before Wakana Ose finished for a goal.  It marks her second goal of the season.  The Bobcats looked for an equalizer however, White punched Dayanara Monetti's shot over the crossbar.  Mackenzie Longmuir and Evelyn Saldivar both recorded shots, however, the score remained 1-0 in the 66'.  St. Thomas evened the score in the 71' as they converted off a cornerkick tying the match at 1-1.  The two teams traded possession over the next several minutes.  In the closing minutes of the match, Ose split the defense and slide the ball into the next giving Cumberlands the 2-1 lead.  St. Thomas looked for a response but White made a pair of save in the final two minutes to preserve the 2-1 final.

The Patriots will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 13th, when the travel to West Palm Beach, FL to face top-ranked Keiser.  The match is set for 10 a.m.
