Morgan White has been named the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week, NAIA officials announced Tuesday. White becomes the first Patriot player to garner national honors this season.
White tallied 17 saves and posted a .944 save percentage over UC's two matches last week, including a 1-0 win over top-ranked Keiser. The freshman opened the week making a career-high ten saves in the 2-1 win over St. Thomas. White came out of the gate strong making seven saves in the first half to keep the match scoreless at the break. She notched a pair of saves in the closing minutes of the game to preserve the win.
The Louisville, KY native followed that up with a seven save performance against top-ranked Keiser. White made a pair of diving saves to her left throughout the match and made five second half saves in the match. The freshman's final save came in the closing seconds of the match as White earned her fourth clean sheet of the season.
The Patriots will return to the pitch on Tuesday, September 16th, when they return home to face (RV) Grace. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at the UC Soccer Complex.
