                     Columbus, OH – The University of the Cumberlands Men's Bowling team opened the 2025-26 season by earning a top-five finish at the DO Apparel/Brunswick Collegiate Open on Saturday. The Patriots placed fifth out of 12 teams with a total pinfall of 5,354 pins through three team games and 12 baker games. 
Austin Hale led the way for UC, placing 10th overall individually. The senior posted a total pinfall of 680 pins across three games, highlighted by scores of 233, 234, and 213 for a 226.7-pin average. 
Owen McClure was next for the Patriots, finishing 40th overall. He recorded a three-game total of 567 pins for a 189.0 average, highlighted by 224 pins in game one. Trent Smallwood followed closely, placing 45th with 562 pins for a 187.3 average, including a 217 in his opening game. 
Noah Hall added a 49th-place finish with 556 pins for a 185.3-pin average, with his high coming in game one with 204 pins. Austin Nelson rounded out the Patriots' top-five scorers with 342 total pins in two games, averaging 171.0. 
Belmont Abbey took first place in the team standings with 3,128 pins in traditional games, while Muskingum University (3,197) and Ohio State (3,075) rounded out the top-three overall once baker scores were factored in. 
Cumberlands will return to the lanes October 4th-5th when they compete in the Brunswick Midwest Collegiate Championship in Detroit, MI.
