#2 Patriots Offense Explodes for 12 goals in MSC Win

Georgetown, KY – The second-ranked Patriots had a pair of hat tricks, while seven Cumberlands players netted goals in a 12-0 win over Georgetown Tuesday night at Toyota Field.  With the win, UC improves to 7-1-3 on the year and 1-1 in conference play, while the Tigers move to 4-4-1 and 0-2.

Tori Robertson and Juana Fernandez Calvo each recorded their first hat tricks as Patriots.  For Robertson it was her first collegiate goal.  Abigail Little finished with a brace, while Carola Fontan notched a goal to go along with three assists.  With her three assists, Fontan ties Kelly Tragesser for second in career assists with 33 apiece.

The Patriots took control of the possession in the early going notching a pair of shots and a corner kick in the first five minutes of play.  UC broke through two minutes later as Lucia Domingo Porcel played a ball forward, Laura Bosca got behind the defense and slid the shot into the net to make it 1-0.  The Patriots extended their lead two minutes later, after earning a corner kick Samantha Sokolove played a high ball into the box.  The ball deflected off a Tigers player before Wakana Ose headed it in extending the lead to 2-0.  The Patriots extended their lead as Evelyn Saldivar sent a cross into the box, where Tori Robertson made a run to finish, netting her first collegiate goal and make it 3-0.  Georgetown pushed the ball up field earning a corner kick, but couldn't convert as Cumberlands maintained their 3-0 advantage.    The score remained 3-0 until the 32' when Robertson took the ball away from a Tigers defender, raced up field and slid the shot just inside the post making it 4-0.

Kayah Robbins began the scoring in the second half netting her first collegiate goal in the 50'.  Fernandez Calvo scored off an assist from Camryn Broz, before Fontan connected with Little for a goal to make it 7-0 in the 58'.  Cumberlands continued to control the possession and move the ball throughout the half as Little, Robertson, Fernandez Calvo, and Fontan combined for the 12-0 final.

In the match, UC outshot the Tigers 33-1 and earned 12 corner kicks.  The 12 goals are the most by the Patriots since October 4, 2023 when they defeated Freed-Hardeman 12-0 at home.
