Bowling Green, KY – On the heels of back-to-back wins over top-11 opponents, the Patriots women's soccer team closes out the week by sweeping the MSC Player of the Week honors.  Nicole Araujo garnered MSC Offensive Player of the Week, while Madison Long was named the MSC Defensive Player of the Week. 

Araujo captures MSC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.  The senior came up huge in the Patriots 3-2 win over #9 Aquinas, tying her career-high with five points.  In the 30' against the Saints, Araujo took a free kick and put a well-placed shot just inside the post to put Cumberlands in front 1-0.   The senior extended the lead late in the first half as she knocked in her second goal off a Letizia Traversone assist to make it 2-0.  In the second half, the Lisbon, Portugal native begin a transition that resulted in a goal from Ines Martin Garcia De La Torre as Cumberlands held on for the victory.

Long notches her first career MSC Defensive Player of the Week honor after a stellar performance.  Long was pivotal part of the Patriots backline that held #11 Indiana Wesleyan to just six shots in the match.  In addition to strong play on the defensive end of the pitch, the Gallatin, TN native also netted her first collegiate goal, converting off a corner kick in the 54' as the Patriots earned the 1-0 win.  Long was also a key part of Cumberlands defense that fended off a late surge by Aquinas.

The Patriots will return to the pitch on Thursday, September 11th, when the travel to Miami Gardens, FL to face St. Thomas.  The match  is set for 1 p.m.
