Women Hit a Pair of Standards at Bellarmine and Vanderbilt

LOUISVILLE, KY - The Patriots competed across two meets on the day, producing multiple national standards at the Bellarmine Open while also taking on top-level competition at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville.
 
UC's top performances of the day came at the Bellarmine Open, where the Patriots recorded two national B standards on the track. MaQuoia Raglin led the way in the 200 meters, winning the event in 24.73 to earn the NAIA B standard and place among the top performers in the NAIA. Lillian Guzman added a second B cut for UC by running 57.45 in the 400 meters to place second and match the national standard.
 
The Patriots added another event victory at Bellarmine in the field as Jaci Woods captured the triple jump with a mark of 10.51 meters. UC also placed multiple athletes in the long jump, where Abia Kante led the group with a fourth-place finish behind a jump of 5.53 meters. Woods followed with a 5.27-meter effort, while Analei Sarakatsannis recorded a mark of 4.71 meters.
 
Bellarmine sprint action opened with three Patriots in the 60 meters. Kante led UC with a time of 7.88, followed by Guzman at 7.90 and Kennedi Riascos at 8.50. In the hurdles, Aliah Laster competed in the 60-meter hurdles and crossed the line in 9.33.
 
UC also added middle-distance results at Bellarmine in the 800 meters, where Grace Nelson ran 2:27.29 to lead the Patriots, while Kayleigh Burkhead followed with a time of 2:32.31. The mile featured four Patriots, paced by Hope Boa in 5:32.23. Rylee Schaffner followed in 5:38.27, while Baylee Black ran 5:54.10 and Lucy Sullivan closed the event at 5:57.66.
 
The throws group produced steady marks at Bellarmine. Delaney Deaton led UC in the shot put with a throw of 8.49 meters, followed by Kelsie Peavler at 8.22 meters and Laster at 7.65 meters. In the weight throw, Deaton recorded a mark of 11.38 meters, while Katie Slade posted 9.46 meters and Peavler added a 9.43-meter effort. Kaielle Gray also competed in the high jump, clearing 1.55 meters to place fourth overall.
 
At the Vanderbilt Invitational, the Patriots faced elite competition in the distance events. Elisa Helferich represented UC in the 1000 meters, finishing in 3:08.13 in a loaded field.
 
The distance squad also contested the 5000 meters, where Patrober Jepchirchir led the Patriots with a third-place finish in 18:02.39 against a deep collegiate field.
 
UC will return tomorrow for the final day of the Vanderbilt Invitational.
