LOUISVILLE, KY – The Patriots competed at the Bellarmine University PNC Classic on Friday, highlighted by a national qualifying performance in the field and steady results across the sprints, jumps, and throws.
 
The top performance of the day for UC came in the long jump, where Abia Kante posted a mark of 5.69 meters to place second overall and earn the NAIA B standard. The jump marked UC's lone national qualifier of the meet and led the Patriots' efforts in the field events.
 
UC added two more competitors in the long jump as Jaci Woods recorded a mark of 5.00 meters, while Analei Sarakatsannis followed with a jump of 4.31 meters.
 
The sprint group opened competition in the 60 meters, where A'Yana Gray crossed the line in 8.41. Kennedi Riascos also competed in the event and later added a performance of 28.72 in the 200 meters, while Gray ran 30.14 in the same event.
 
The Patriots had representation in the hurdles as Aliah Laster ran 9.57 in the 60-meter hurdles before competing in the pole vault, where she cleared 2.96 meters.
 
UC also saw action in the triple jump, where Woods led the way with a mark of 10.33 meters, followed by Sarakatsannis at 9.50 meters.
 
The throws group rounded out the day with multiple efforts across both events. In the shot put, Katie Slade led UC with a mark of 9.99 meters, followed by Kelsie Peavler at 9.13 meters and Delaney Deaton at 8.28 meters. The weight throw saw Slade record a mark of 11.19 meters, with Deaton posting 10.78 meters and Peavler adding a 10.37-meter effort.
 
The Pats will be back on the track next weekend as they travel right back Louisville for the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite.
