LOUISVILLE, KY – The Patriots opened competition at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite on Friday with two national qualifying performances and a full slate of results across the sprints, middle distance, distance events, and jumps on day one of the meet.
UC's top performances of the day came on the track with two NAIA B standards.
MaQuoia Raglin led the way in the 200 meters by running 24.79 in the B division to earn the national standard. The Patriots added a second qualifier in the 800 meters as
Alex Cundiff crossed the line in 2:17.31 to match the NAIA B cut in the open section.
The Patriots also competed in the C division of the 200 meters, where
Ritorion Vigne ran 25.67.
Lillian Guzman added a 25.58 effort in the B division to round out UC's entries in the event.
UC placed multiple athletes in the open 800 meters behind Cundiff's national mark.
Caroline Cronen followed with a time of 2:19.22, while
Elisa Helferich ran 2:23.17.
Megan Kitchens crossed in 2:23.39,
Grace Nelson finished in 2:26.37, and Rylee Schnaffer closed out the event with a time of 2:29.53.
The distance group competed in the 3000 meters to close out the track events.
Patrober Jepchirchir led UC with a time of 10:25.74, while
Anslee Crosby followed in 11:12.14.
The Patriots also added a field event on day one as
Abia Kante competed in the long jump and recorded a mark of 5.53 meters.
The Patriots will return to action tomorrow as competition continues at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite. The final day will start with field events at 9 AM and track events at 10 AM.
